Strain: A Silent Anti-Bullying Film

I’m not really the silent film type of girl.

So I was hesitant about this one, even though I know bullying is  a huge issue. I like smart dialogue, loud, exploding cars and comedy that makes me spit up my juice.

Silent films require me to be super focused. Strain, a silent anti-bullying film, moved me and made me think about the kids who are bullied and the other kids who simply watch it all go down like it’s entertainment or something, but never tell anyone about it.

Shout out to Yin Chang, the director who was bullied as a kid because she was chubby and had a weird name; and when Yin got older, she choose to bully some easy targets too. So she knows this issue from both sides of the fence and she made some dope, silent art with it. Honesty is everything. It’s bigger than just the bully. The bystander is guilty too.

Like Chang says on the film’s website, we all have the power and the right to speak up and put an end to bullying.

Do you agree?
