Coke’s Pay It Forward Scholarship & Mentoring Experience

artical_1I always tell teens to research the brands they love to see if they offer college scholarships. That means if you eat McDonald’s fries, listen to Jay Z or sip Coca-Cola, jump on their websites and do some research to see who has some coins to cover tuition, books and room/board.

All three of these brands have scholarships (yay!), but only one, Coke, gives teens and their moms (a.k.a. the first and best mentor ever!) a chance to get ready for college. (And yes, Jay Z is a brand. To quote the rapper/mogul: “I’m not a businessman. I’m a business, man.”)

Coca-Cola’s Pay It Forward program awards 20 high school students each with a $5,000 scholarship and a mentoring experience—along with their moms and/or legal guardians—at the Pay It Forward Academy in Atlanta on July 24-26 2015.

One sweepstakes winner will receive a $1,000 gift card for sharing the Pay It Forward program on their social network.

The workshops include college prep and career paths, plus moms learn about financial aid. That’s good stuff because of the cost of tuition continues to rise. (Check out my post about the must-see documentary The Ivory Tower.)

Steve Harvey, known for his commitment to mentoring teens, returns as Coke’s celebrity ambassador.

Parents, mentors, friends or relatives can nominate college bound teens, and teens can nominate themselves.

Nominations are open now thru March 31st at coke.com/payitforward. Winners will be notified on or around May 30th.

Spread the word and use the hashtag: #PIF and #CokePayItForward on social media.
